If you’ve ever wondered what all the fuss is about Broadway musicals, James Corden’s latest edition of Carpool Karaoke can answer that for you. This Sunday’s Tony Awards host scored some of the biggest voices in Broadway to help him drive around the streets of Manhattan and thankfully, we got to go along for the ride.
Corden started the segment off with Broadway golden boy Lin-Manuel Miranda, singing the hit song “Alexander Hamilton” from Miranda’s show Hamilton. Next up, the duo made it a party, picking up Audra McDonald, Jesse Tyler Ferguson, and Jane Krakowski.
Audra is a six-time Tony Awards winner thanks to her roles in plays like Ragtime, A Raisin In The Sun, Porgy and Bess , and she also starred in the Shonda Rhimes drama Private Practice. Ferguson is best known as Mitchell on Modern Family, but has a long history on Broadway, with the actor currently starring in the one-man show, Fully Committed. Jane Krakowski found TV fame with her roles on Ally McBeal, 30 Rock and The Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, but is also a Tony Award winner for her role in Nine.
The group ran through a number of Broadway classics, including Rent‘s “525,600 Minutes,” Jersey Boy‘s “Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You,” and “One Day More” from Les Miserables.
One thing’s for sure—these four Broadway stars will be a tough Carpool Karaoke act to follow.
