He’s taken on Broadway, late night TV, movies and the carpool lane. Now James Corden has been handed his next assignment – host the 2017 Grammy Awards.
The multi-talented entertainer is the perfect choice for the show, having previously hosted the Tony Awards this past June to critical acclaim, and of course his own late night program, The Late Late Show With James Corden. The British comedian will be stepping in for LL Cool J, who has hosted the annual show for the past five years.
Airing Sunday, February 15, the 2017 Grammy Awards have yet to announce this year’s nominations or performers, but we’re already setting our DVR’s to see Corden take the stage at LA’s Staples Centre.
So, what do we want to see from Corden during the 59th Grammy Awards? We have a few ideas.
Pop Culture-Filled Monologue
James Corden performs a monologue five nights a week, so yeah, we’re expecting his Grammys monologue to be really, really good.
A Musical Montage
Corden is no stranger to packing a lot of entertainment into a small amount of time. The Late Late Show host could provide a quick review of the year in music with a mash up of the biggest songs, similar to his ‘Soundtrack To Growing Up’ skit.
Celebrity Involvement
It’s the Grammy Awards. There are literally going to be celebrities *everywhere* and if there’s one thing Corden likes more than musicals, it’s celebrities. And he really loves musicals.
Family Involvement
We would love to see Corden’s sisters and parents interviewing celebs before the show on the red carpet or backstage during the Grammys. Jagwars. Jagwars!
A BTS Look At The Grammys
James Corden loves trying out different jobs and giving hard working people a break. We don’t think the Grammys should be any different. From camera operators to directors to PR reps, we’d love to see James try on a new role before the show.
Bring Back Beyames
We’re pretty sure Lemonade is going to rule the Grammy Awards this year, giving James an opportunity to reprise his hilarious homage to Queen Bey.
Some Company On His Ride To the Grammys
He needs help getting to work, guys!
Don’t miss The Late Late Show With James Corden every Monday to Friday at 12:30am ET on CTV. Check out with episodes online here.
